ConductIT is the result of a three year Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership between the RNCM, University of Stavanger, University of Aveiro, and the Open University. In September 2018 we set out to create a comprehensive online resource for studying conducting.
Our goal was to create something that would contain information of interest to as wide a range of conductors, conduting teachers, and those interested in conducting as possible. We wanted something which could be of use to a complete beginner with no access to in-person teaching; could form the basis of beginner and intermediate level courses in schools; universities, and colleges; could be used by music educators from professional development; would plug gaps of more advances students and professionals; and be of interest to music lovers with a curiosity about what conductors do.
Around half way through the project, a global pandemic hit, and it seemed that all of a sudden everyone was very interested in how to teach conducting online! ConducIT launched in November 2021 although we hope to continue its development over the coming years.
Here’s a link to a press release about the project, and to a factsheet. The best thing to do is head over to ConductIT.eu and take a look for yourself. Feedback welcome!
